Big busts: Top picks in 2009 draft not helping the Cowboys

A few times in training camp I left Robert Brewster off at least one of the 53-man roster projections and had Jason Williams on the roster bubble or had them both on the bubble.
Brewster was cut last week, went unclaimed by 31 other teams and re-joined the Cowboys' practice squad on Monday. Williams was responsible (at least in part) for Greg Camarillo's touchdown catch Sunday as well Jim Kleinsasser's big third-down catch that eventually led to Adrian Peterson's 1-yard touchdown.
Williams and Brewster were the Cowboys' first two picks in the 2009 draft and they have received nothing from them.
Brewster might be miscast as a tackle. His frame has some wondering if he's more of a guard. Maybe that is a part of his future, but it's never a good sign when you're replaced on a roster by a guy from another team's practice squad, like Jermey Parnell, who played one year of college football as a defensive end and spent the last 18 months playing offensive tackle in New Orleans and Miami.
Williams was a project when the Cowboys drafted him out of Western Illinois. Athletically he is off the charts. He can do things few others his size can do. But as a football player he does not have the instincts needed to play inside linebacker or in passing situations.
Maybe it will come in time, but time is not on the Cowboys' side right now.
