Team - Record - Division - Conference

Eagles 6-3 (1-1)(4-2)
Giants 6-3 (1-1)(5-1)
Skins 4-5 (2-1)(4-3)
Dallas 2-7 (1-2)(1-5)

Okay, this is for shits and giggles.

Deep down, I know we're not going to make the playoffs.

But until we're mathmatically eliminated (which should occur after our next loss), I'm going to keep this updated.

If we were to make the playoffs . . . it would have to be as a division winner. We'd have to win out, and the Giants and Eagles (who we play twice) would have to have bad 2nd halves of the season (something the Giants have done before, recently).

Cowboys remaining schedule:
Detroit
New Orleans (short week, they're on the road)
@ Indianapolis (10 days to prepare)
Philadelphia
Washington
@ Arizona
@ Philadelphia

If we won out, we'd be 9-7, with a 7-5 conference record.

Eagles remaining schedule:
Giants
@ Bears
Texans
@ Cowboys
Giants
Vikings
Cowboys

Giants remaining schedule:

@ Eagles
Jaguars
Redskins
@ Vikings
Eagles
@ Packers
@ Washington

--------------------

Interesting to note that while we are 4 games behind the division leaders, we do play the Eagles twice (if we won out, we'd give them 2 of the four losses), and the Eagles and Giants have to play each other twice, which would obviously give each team either one loss each or two losses to one of them.

I'm discounting the Redskins, I know. Fuck'em.

This whole thing is a pipe dream anyway.

So . . . this weekend, Giants vs Eagles, who should we root for?

I'm thinking the Eagles.

Initially I was thinking the Giants because the Eagles have been on a roll lately and it looks like it can continue without a team figuring out a way to stop Mike Vick, so the sooner the better.

But after looking at the remaining schedule, I think we might have to root for the Eagles... The Giants match up well against the rest of their opponents. Even if they were to split against Philly and Wash they still have very winnable games against the Viks, Jags, and Packers. Whereas the Eagles travel to Chicago, to NY, play us twice (assuming we win), and the Viks who can get after Vick.

We want Philly to win b/c of tie breakers. We would hold H2H against Philly but we need division record against NYG so they need to lose two more division games.

I don't need to think of who to root for. I hate the Eagles as much or more than I love the Cowboys. I would beat a baby to keep them from a winning a super bowl.

LOL!!! On this I am in total agreement. The Eagles are getting too much hype. I could never root for the Eagles... well except when they play the Redskins. But even then, it's not that I am rooting for the Eagles, but moreso rooting against the Redskins.

I want the Giants in this one.

The season has an ebb and flow to it. It's often times not just the teams that play but when they play that really matters. Especially these days with the talent level so spread out and watered down.

This should be a good spot for the Giants. They should be angry coming off that look ahead loss and they're facing a team that just played their best game of the season and they're also coming off a short week.

Giants 31
Eagles 23

If Philadelphia wins this game, you might as well crown them division champs.

I never hated the Redskins until I got on these internet boards.

I mean, I hate every team we play when we're playing them, but the Redskins were like the Giants to me. Rivals, but no real hatred. A few years of reading and dealing with Redskins fans brought out the hate for me.

But I've been surrounded by Eagles fans all my life. They are the lowest pieces of shat in the sports world. They do not deserve a winner. Unless you've lived in this area, I can not describe the level of Cowboys hate here. It's an obsession.

So I always have a great fear every year that this will be the year they win it. Which makes me root for teams like the Giants even if it makes more sense to root the other way for the Cowboys. I can't enjoy the playoffs when they are in it. I can only relax when they are out of it.

I'd sign a deal with the devil tomorrow that the Cowboys will never again win a Super Bowl....IF....the Eagles never win their first.

Of our division rivals . . . I actually hate the Eagles the least.

In fact . . . I hate McNabb so much that, I actually wouldn't mind it if the Eagles won the Super Bowl this year.

That's right . . . I hate McNabb so much that I would actually enjoy seeing Andy Reid and the Eagles hoist the Lombardi the year after they ship McNabbs fat, dumbass out of town.

Maybe then people would give up on the false notion that McNabb is such a sensational leader who carried that Eagles team for 11 years.

I'm not feeling you on this. I hate Eagles' fans MORE than you hate McNabb. And if they ever won the Super Bowl, you'd come to hate them as well. Like sbk said, they are literally pieces of shit. I hate Redskins' fans---they are a delusional sort that is fueld over by their jealousy and obsession of the Cowboys, but the Eagles' fans are a entirely different breed. I'll never forget nor forgive them cheering over Irvin's injury. And just for that alone, I do not want them ever to hoist a Lombardi.

I think we have a better shot at the WildCard than division champs.

Atlanta 7-2;2-0;4-1
Chicago 7-3;3-0;5-3
Philadelphia 6-3;1-1;4-2
Seattle 5-4;3-1;4-2
NYGiants 6-3;1-1;5-1
New Orleans 6-3;3-1;5-2
Green Bay 6-3;2-1;4-2
Tampa Bay 6-3;2-2;4-2
St Louis 4-5;1-2;3-4
Washington 4-5;2-1;4-3
Minnesota 3-6;1-2;3-3
San Francisco 3-6;1-1;1-5
Arizona 3-6;1-2;2-5
Detroit 2-7;0-3;2-5
Dallas 2-7;1-2;1-5
Carolina 1-8;0-4;1-7

Working from the bottom and going up:
-Beat Detroit they are out
-Beat Arizona they are out
-San Fran loses @Green Bay and @San Diego
-Minnesota still plays Green Bay, Chicago, NYG and Philly
-Beat Washington plus two games vs NYG
-St Louis still plays Atlanta, Seattle, KC, Denver and New Orleans

That takes care of the trash that has little to no chance of making the playoffs. This leaves 8 teams that are 6-3 or better so we need at least three to lose 4+ games.

-Tampa plays @Baltimore, @New Orleans and vs Atlanta which should but them at 6 losses. Their other games are @Washington, @San Fran, vs Detroit and vs Seattle. Losing one of those games puts them at 7 losses and 5 conference losses so we would be tied. If they lose Detroit or Washington we should get the common games tiebreaker but a tie there and we take the strength of victory tiebreaker.

-Green Bay had head to head tiebreaker so they need to finish with an 8-8 record (2-5 to end the season). They play Minnesota, Detroit and San Francisco so that won't happen.

-New Orleans needs to lose 4 games because we would have H2H on Thanksgiving. They play @Atlanta and @Baltimore so they one more loss between St Louis, Cincinnati and Seattle.

-NY Giants have the greatest ability to help us so we should hope for them to win out and take the division.

-Seattle will likely win their crappy division at no better than 9-7.

-Philadelphia plays two games vs Dallas and two vs NYG. If they lose those four they are out of the playoffs.

-Chicago needs to finish the season with a 1-5 record, and the good news is they have a tough road ahead. Philly, @Detroit, New England, @Minnesota, NYJets, @Green Bay. It would be a little easier if Miami didn't completely suck.

-Atlanta wins their division, nothing to worry about here.

In short: cheer against Tampa, Chicago, New Orleans and Philly

Thanks for taking the time type all that out, Cythim.

But there's no way I see us grabbing a wildcard.

It could happen, but we need too many teams to shit the bed.

Then why did you start this entire thread and telling us to BELIEVE!? LOL.

Yeah. If Jerry would have fired Wade at least two games earlier, maybe even one, I would have liked our chances. Although if we run the table and finish 9-7 and still don't make the playoffs, I'll be happy with that. I would be even alright with 8-8, conmsidering as to how we started the season.

Damn you Jerry! You had intentions of firing Wade all along, why not do it sooner? And Wade you gutless POS! Why didn't you have the decency to quit? I know it sounds hypocritical in how we badmouth Parcells for quitting, but I think the circumstances are much different. In this situation, I would have respected Wade much more if he decided to have quit. If he would have been, "Look. I've lost the players and the team. I can do no more. I failed them, the fans, and the organization. I'm going to step aside. I'm sorry."

Yeah, somewhat in jest though.

Like I said . . . we need to win out, and we need the Giants and Eagles to fall on their faces. I think that is clearly our best shot at making the playoffs - as a division winner.

The Eagles are hot right now, but I don't for a second think they're the world beaters we saw on MNF. That was just a perfect storm. And the Redskins just laid down for them (some literally, Haynesworth).

The Giants started off 5-0, only to finish 8-8 in 2009. They have a jumbled offensive line, and Steve Smith is gone for a few weeks.

Saints, @Indy, and @ Philly worry me the most. But I think if the team buys into Garretts approach of focusing on each task, each day, and each opponent . . . that we have the talent to play with anyone in this league.
