Only days after quarterback Tony Romo's high-profile wedding stole the headlines and became the talk of the town, Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett and Sigourney Walker of Oakland, Calif., exchanged vows with considerably less fanfare. According to Bennett, the ceremony took place on Wednesday.

"I just got married," Bennett revealed.

With his wife by his side, Bennett disclosed the news at the Winspear Opera House, where Cowboys lineman Andre Gurode was holding a charity function for the Center of Attention Foundation that he runs. Walker's Facebook page was then updated Saturday, reflecting the change in her relationship status. But Cowboys quarterback Stephen McGee said he was unaware that Bennett tied the knot.

"He said he was getting married," McGee said. "But I didn't know it was going to be this soon."

Bennett, who is one of the more flamboyant and eccentric members of the Cowboys, was coy when asked where his wedding took place.

With a Cheshire grin, he said, "Around the world. In an undisclosed location. I can't tell nobody."

Bennett, who is entering his fourth season in the league, has made 68 receptions for 702 yards and four touchdowns during his career. However, his accomplishments on the field have often been overshadowed by the alter ego he created, "Marty B." Capitalizing on the attention drawn to his new persona, Bennett launched a clothing line and dabbled in music.

"I always tell players, 'Just don't be a football player.'" Bennett said. "Try and be something else."

Yet while Bennett has interests that lie outside his primary occupation, he admits that he is looking forward to playing again when the lockout ends.

"I think everybody knows that the players want to play football," Bennett said. "It's just dragging on right now."

But Bennett is staying busy this offseason. And that's especially true now that he's a married man.

I get all jittery when I think of him giving advice to the rooks.
