Free Agency
After restructuring and some releases, the Cowboys should have enough room to sign one major free agent and a few minor ones.

Dont like your plan, save signing Melton. Like some of the players you drafted, but not the trade down for next years first or drafting the two players you did in the 2nd round.

Your only change on the Oline would be drafting Winters

Yeah, this was going off Jones' and Callahan's recent statements that the OL was good. If it was up to me I'd draft Cooper or Warmack in the 1st, Travis Frederick or DJ Fluker in the 2nd, and Schwenke or Kyle Long in the 3rd. Fix the O Line once and for all.

another solid RB is needed this year, maybe not as high as I drafted Bernard, but with Murray's physical style and injury history I think it's essential we add another talented guy there. Plus, I think Bernard is special.

As far as LB, I based that on us targeting a LB high the last 4 drafts (Jason Williams 2009, Sean Lee 2010, Bruce Carter 2011, and supposedly Bobby Wagner 2012). Kiffin has always had fast, aggressive LB's in his scheme so I can see us going after Greene or Kansas State's Arthur Brown early. Plus, Albright is going to be an issue at starting OLB no matter how hard you hope and wish he isn't.

I would rather have your take on the draft, not what you think what Jerry are going to do based on there beliefs.

You're mock is far less depressing

I like the player, just dont like using our first pick (in your scenario) on a RB, when we have Murray who is a really good player. Wouldnt be opposed to using a later pick on a RB.

The last 4 drafts we played a 3-4 defense and had issues at the interior LB spots. In the 4-3 the strong OLB is the least critical position on the field and the guy would be removed for a majority of plays anyway. Lee and Carter are both special players, so it doesnt make alot of sense IMO to draft another 4-3 LB with a high pick. I dont know if Albright is the real starter or not, but I do know they could likely fill the strong OLB with a middle to late rd pick or worst case, with a free agent on the cheap.

I really believe we'll see most of the picks used on the OL and DL, along with a safety and maybe a CB

dbair, you of all people should know how ineffective our O is without some semblance of a ground game. Which is usually the case whenever DeMarco is injured. We need insurance so that we can bring some sort of balance to the offense.

And cmd, saying that they like the Oline doesn't preclude them from taking value if a distinguished Olineman, say Barrett Jones, drops to them in the 2nd or 3rd round; and then they end up drafting another guy because he's the highest ranked player on their board.
