Austin Says Hamstrings Are "Not An Issue" Posted by jellis at 2/28/2012 2:43 PM CST on dallascowboys.com |
Just a few days back, team owner Jerry Jones said that hamstring problems were entirely to blame for the dip in Miles Austin's production in 2011 and he is not worried about those injuries going forward.
During an interview airing on KTCK (1310-AM) in Dallas on Tuesday, Austin helped alleviate those fears even more, saying that now, two full months after the season, his legs are 100 percent.
"It feels good," Austin said. "Absolutely not an issue."
During the season, Austin received plenty of rest to help the muscles heal, but it took even more extended down time before he could put the pain behind him.
"I took basically like a month off of heavy lifting, not doing anything like that," Austin said. "Just going in, treatment, just low-key, low-impact, I guess, and then started slowly picking it back up."
Austin said he is currently making sure to get in four, if not five, workouts a week at Valley Ranch. He estimated 25-30 percent of his teammates were regulars in the facility's weight room right now as well. Players are currently working out at their leisure until the team's official offseason workout program begins in April.
The receiver said he and quarterback Tony Romo haven't been on the field throwing passes and running routes since the season ended.
"We haven't worked yet," Austin said. "Although he did text me the other day and we were texting back and forth about how we're going to start getting that, obviously, work out sometime soon."
