I think it's too early to call. If the republicans figure out how to use the media to their advantage and the economy stays fairly stagnant, Romney's got a shot. Obama is far from Teflon this time around and the right has five years worth of soundbites to use against him. Broken promises, wavering, flip-flops, hypocrisy, there's plenty they could use to their advantage. Romney isn't what I would call a smooth talker but he's eons ahead of pathetic John McCain.

Romney would be the lesser of the two evils to me but I'm resigned to the possibility that there will be four more years of B.O.

The VP pick for Romney is huge. If he picks a middling person who doesnt generate any positive vibe, he'll be in trouble.

If he picks the right one (like say Marco Rubio) he could run away with it.

Is Rubio eligible? I know that his parents were immigrants and weren't naturalized until after he was born. If the VP is next in line for the presidency, would that affect his eligibility or does that only apply to people running for president? I've never given any thought to what the eligibility requirements for the VP are.

He would almost certainly be a better VP than Biden but then again, so would a Chia Pet.

I am pretty sure he is, supposedly alot of people in the party are putting pressure on him to accept the position if Romney offers it.

Like I said, I'm not really sure. I don't mind the choice myself but it can't look as though the repubs are pandering to a social sector. I believe that factored into McCain/The right choosing Palin because there was some degree of dissent when Hillary got something of a raw deal in '08 while battling Mr. Teflon. The 0 was already something of a favorite in an election year with no incumbent and I believe the right thought that choosing a woman would give them an edge.

Rubio is fairly inexperienced though and just because he's Hispanic/Latino/Whatever is appropriate, doesn't mean he will go over with all H/L/Wia. Not all H/L/Wia can be lumped together as they have different national backgrounds and they don't all get along.
