...it really doesn't matter who is on the team. A coach could be give the leagues leading rusher, a pro bowl line, QB, TE and WR and still not know how to use them or really use their strengths at the right time.

This is Garrett's latest gem:

When Garrett’s five-year extension was announced shortly after the Cowboys' season ended, he mentioned the word "build" in his opening statement.

“I think teams make mistakes when they say, ‘OK, we’re one player away,’” Garrett said. “I just think you’re continuing to try and build a football team. If we do that, right guys, the right way, that’s what gives us our best chance.”

Not sure how much more Garrett needs to build here. What's really missing here except a better scheme and a better coach? Chances are next years team is not going to have the level of talent that the clapper had this past year.

I think that quote is actually on point. Too many times Jerry has gone into an offseason thinking we were one or a few players away... and you could tell by the moves that were made. I want no more of that. Every year just get better... if you're standing still, others are passing you.

He kept saying and referring to "RKG" all through that disgusting presser too.

I don't know who's harder to watch - Carrot Top, or Obama. They both sound exactly the same. And give us mostly just word salad.

Yeah I hate the guy with a passion but that quote makes sense to me. Just keep building/replenishing the talent.

Don't go balls out for one player.

Jerry loves to because it worked with Haley and Deion.

Jerry could best "build" some more by taking even more of Garrett's responsibilities away.

Anyway, it was reported locally by one guy who is pretty tied in that Garrett was the one who convinced Jerry to finally pull the trigger on the Roy Williams trade. So as far as hating one player away... Yeah.

Hey Omega, if you really want to get pissed off like I was when I heard about it, go find that interview Garrett did with NBC 5. He actually talked about how proud he was of those 8-8 teams. Why? Because he basically said he knew those players were terrible. He was a little more suble than that, of course, but that's what he was saying. So 8-8 was the absolute best anyone could have gotten out of those scrubs.

So once again he was propping himself for the job he did, even after he repeatedly blew games that would have gotten us into the playoffs. Absolutely amazing how arrogant this guy is, taking credit for everything good after the fact but never owning up to his screwups. Those are all someone else's fault, like when he throws his franchise QB under the bus.

Talk about finding a way to hate on a guy. You think Bellicheck doesn't take this approach? He lets players walk all the damn time and drafts and drafts and trades away 1sts etc. You are never just a player away.

There is a measure of logical inconsistency here.

If a scheme/system allows given players to lead the league in certain categories (e.g., rushing, QB rating) and if the team posts above to well above average statistics in most of the important categories, then the scheme, at least generally, is by definition effective and successful.

... in spite of Garrett; not because of him.

But go ahead and help yourself to more of the kool-aid.

I dont agree with all he's done and have myself wanted to see him gone before, but after this year I'm thinking he has earned more time.

You cant bash him for everything bad but give him zero credit for things when they are good. The team is run differently now, is that because of him or because of some divine intervention with Jones? Jones had proven for basically two decades that he didnt "get it", something has changed somewhere. I like the way the team has drafted since Garrett took over as HC and I do think he's had an input in their philosophy on that. I think he had a major hand in turning the roster over. The team does (and always has under him) played hard for 60 minutes. He wasnt a great play caller and at times has struggled with some game maintenence/clock management type decisions, but this year was far better in those regards than past years. He's also assembled a pretty good staff of assistants.

I dont know if he will ever win us a Super Bowl, but this was almost universally expected to be a bad to mediocre year and they had a a great season. I think we proved we can play with (and beat) anybody in the league even with the limited talent we have on defense. With another offseason to continue reshaping the team and some further improvement from some of the other young players, next year could be pretty good.

Lmao. We're coming off a 12-4 season, and y'all are still bitching and moaning. Have any of you tried Wellbutrin? It's worked pretty well for me. Just saying.
