IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys can take linebacker Bruce Carter and kicker Kai Forbath off the non-football injury list as soon as tomorrow now that Week 7 is about to start.

Carter, the team’s second round pick, has been recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered last November at North Carolina. Forbath, who was signed during training camp, has been slowed by a quadriceps injury.

The Cowboys have a three-week window in which to activate the players off the list and then will have two weeks to practice them before they would have to add them to the 53-man roster, place them on injured reserve or cut them.

The Cowboys will receive roster exemptions for the players to practice but once they are added to the 53-man roster they would have to cut one or two players.

Carter wore pads over the last two weeks in his rehab and said recently he hoped to be able to play as soon as Sunday’s game vs. St. Louis in a special teams’ role. The Cowboys knew he would need time to recover from the knee surgery. Because of the lockout the team’s rehab staff was not able to work with Carter until training camp began.

I'd give it a couple weeks. And if Carter looks like he has even a half of a clue what's going on, I'd drag Keef out behind the barn and put a bullet in him.
