Archer and Moore debate: Should the Cowboys play their younger players more?

ARCHER: YES
To steal a line from the Rangers: It's time. I understand mathematically the Cowboys are still in the playoffs and there is a first time for everything, like the Rangers making the World Series . I wouldn't do an all-out switch with rookies and second-year players, but I would start playing Sean Lee at inside linebacker more in base situations with Keith Brooking and Bradie James . I would see what Barry Church can do at safety, either spot, with Gerald Sensabaugh and Alan Ball struggling. I would start getting right tackle Sam Young some more work in practice and possibly a series or two in games. Now I don't think it's the right time to play Stephen McGee at quarterback, but that's not too far off.
MOORE: NO
First of all, it's not fair to invoke the name of the Rangers to prove your point. Just because they are a feel-good story does not mean you should feel good about your stance. I get it. Media and fans are usually the first to throw up their hands when a season goes south and advocate the development of young players. The argument has merit but not with 10 weeks left in the regular season. Performance still matters. Professional integrity still comes into play. If a younger player hasn't earned minutes in practice and preparation, he shouldn't be handed time now just because the team is 1-5. That time will come next month after back-to-back road games in Green Bay and New York, but not now.
