Just spoke to Anthony Spencer. He has no plans to report to voluntary workouts, which began today.

Unfortunately were pretty much stuck with him. You can take an olb in the 1st but there's nothing in FA left to adequately fill the gaping holes you have. Pause

We need to see more production from him in order to get paid. 4 to 5 sacks a year isn't cutting it.

What he should do is show up for all off season workouts and produce this year, then maybe he'll get paid.

I don't think this helps his case.

typical business though. The team won't make a long term commitment to him so this is his "leverage".

I think he is the wrong player to give a big long term contract to. He’s already lazy. Any defensive player that admits to taking plays off proves he does not have that internal drive to be the best. He does just enough to get by. I don’t know what you do with him. He needs the reps. These guys need to get a better understanding of the defense. Disappointed.

Yeah, but I doubt it helps. They already know what kind of player he is.

If he's using this as leverage, it won't do him any good. JMO.

Tell him he has until 5:00 pm today to come get his crap. We don't need him anyway.

You don't reward mediocrity with long term commitment.

Fuck him and his lopsided head.

I agree. He signed the contract and now it's not good enough. He needs to carry his lazy ass somewhere else.

At the same time, you don't reward a team's lack of commitment to you by running out there and getting injured and ending your career.

/devil's advocate

I'm glad for this. I hope he doesn't sign his tender either before the draft, and then we draft his replacement and rescind the the tender.

Besides, it's not like the voluntary workouts would help him anyways.
