IRVING -- As soon as he disembarked from the plane around 10 p.m. Sunday, only hours after his team defeated Washington, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett headed back to the team's headquarters at Valley Ranch.

Plans for Dallas' showdown with Miami on Thursday were already being made. By the time he addressed the media at 5:36 p.m. on Monday, he had been at the Cowboys complex for nearly 20 hours.

Having played and coached for the Cowboys, Garrett is intimately familiar with the condensed schedule that Dallas has to navigate before its Thanksgiving Day matchup every year.

"I have been a part of this game a lot in a few different capacities, so the biggest thing we try to do is get to the preparation for the next game quickly," Garrett said. "You want to make sure you get your work done but you have to be mindful that you just played a game and you are about to play a game. So you have to understand the balance there for the getting the players ready and right. We hope we are able to do that."

On the flight home from Washington, Garrett and his assistants reviewed the film from the team's victory over the Redskins. By the afternoon, they were already focused on Miami.

"It's just a quick turnaround," Cowboys defensive end Marcus Spears said.
And based on his past experiences, Garrett is better equipped to handle it than most coaches.
