Who Says Obama Hasn’t United the Country?

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/366828/who-says-obama-hasnt-united-country-john-fund

Yesterday the Obama administration suddenly moved to allow hundreds of thousands of people who’ve lost their insurance due to Obamacare to sign up for bare-bone “catastrophic” plans. It’s at least the 14th unilateral change to Obamacare that’s been made without consulting Congress.

“It shows that the Obamacare insurance products aren’t selling so, at the last minute, the administration is holding a fire sale on a failed launch,” says Grace-Marie Turner of the Galen Institute, a health-care advocacy group. “Just think how you must feel if you were one of the people who spent the last two months fighting their way through HealthCare.gov to buy a policy that will be thousands of dollars more expensive than this catastrophic insurance!”

Of course, like every other exemption from Obamacare the latest fix is supposed to last only a year, raising the prospect that people will be kicked off their catastrophic coverage as soon as the 2014 election is safely in the political rear-view mirror.

The fact that no one really knows just how Obamacare is doing (the administration is hiding the numbers) or where it’s going (it’s like an impressionistic painting in progress) may explain the public consensus that’s developed behind delaying its implementation. This week’s Fox News poll found Obamacare to still be a polarizing issue with 53 percent of respondents wanting it repealed and 41 percent wanting to keep it. But then this question was asked: “Setting aside how you feel about the law, do you think implementation of it should be delayed for a year until more details are ironed out, or not?”

It wasn’t even close. By 67 percent to 28 percent people now want the law delayed. And every demographic group agrees: 57 percent of liberals, 65 percent of women, 67 percent of those under age 35, and 60 percent of lower-income voters. Even African Americans, the bedrock of Obama’s support base now favor a delay by 48 percent to 47 percent.

The public may not know the details of health-care policy, or how to navigate Obamacare’s website. But they can see the fiasco of Obamacare unfolding before them and they’re increasingly united on slowing it down. Look for more and more Democrats in Congress, who will have to face the voters next November, to join them.

Somehow this fool has made Putin seem appealing as a leader. All of this idiocy has to be calculated...

He can't be this consistently bad by accident. Rove had a plan while serving for Bush that was supposed to ensure Republican domination for years to come. It did not turn out so well. Obama's plan seems to be working perfectly.

No way this idiocy isn't orchestrated.

If you like your politician, you can keep him.

I suggest shopping around the marketplace.

Its been the socialist/leftist plot for decades. All that it takes for them to stay in power is to get to a point where people who don't do shit outnumber those that do. The majority of people in our country now depend on, and want the government to take care of them and give them everything. Public schools basically teach kids now that big government is the answer to everything.

Its really sad, but for those of us with half a brain that know this cant possibly be sustained over time, we're fucked.

Not all the kids are being brainwashed. I am very proud of my son. He is a senior in high school and has a far left American Government teacher this year. In the beginning of the year it was only him and one other that spoke up when the BS was spewed by the teacher. Now the majority of the class engages and challenges her. During parent teacher conferences she told us she marked him down on some essays and a paper because he did not regurgitate the propaganda she puts forth. He responds to every assignment from a conservative viewpoint. Austin spends more study and research time for this class than he does for his Physics and Chem II classes combined. He is a strait "A" kid except for this one class. The Principle has offered to review his work and will make adjustments as necessary to his transcript.

Separation of Powers and the Electoral College were the two most recent runs-ins.

Tell him to focus on those.

I serious... I don't know the specifics.

I think there is a theory is some circles that academia is brainwashing our youth with a liberal agenda. I'd agree much of academia is probably liberal leaning. Of course, you have conservatives trying to change text books to fit their view of the world as well and people trying to inject religion into eduction (the ultimate brainwashing).

Hopefully, the good teachers (and parents) will instill an ability (and desire) for students to search out answers on their own and make their own independent decisions. Fortunately, this only really applies to a few select subjects....history, government, etc. It'd be tough to politicize math or English. People will claim science, but not if students are truly being taught the scientific method.

If there weren't a massive liberal agenda/bias in public schooling, people in public education (mainly teacher unions, which are extremely liberal) wouldn't fear and be non supportive of school voucher/school choice initiatives.

I should be able to use my OWN tax payer dollars to send my kid to any school I wish, but the government and teacher unions vehemently opposes it. This despite the fact that data clearly shows kids in private schools get a far higher quality of education and are much better prepared for college than those in public schools.

Good post. The issues I have come across at my sons school are similar to the ones I encountered when I returned to college a couple of years ago. Only one side is being presented in many classes. Kids and young adults are not being exposed to a variety of theories. There is a strong slant in nearly all the textbooks and unless the teacher happens to have a conservative outlook, the other side is not even presented. Economics has become a mangled mess. Classical theory is never even touched on in most econ classes. It's all Keynesian. The costs associated with the leftist philosophy is largely ignored or propped up using faulty theories. History is being re-written to fall in line the progressive lefts outlook on government. Hell, most kids have no idea that JFK would have more in common with the Tea Party than the progressive nightmare the Democrat party has morphed into.

That's why you shouldn't waste your time with liberal arts degrees.

Stick to science and math. You'll get a job and it is pretty hard to politicize it. Research and learn that other stuff on your own.

That is exactly what I preach to my son. The math has always come easy for him so chem and physics fall in line. He enjoys the debate (surprise, surprise) and the intellectual challenges surrounding economics, government and politics.
