Aaron Rodgers out, Matt Flynn in for Packers
Posted by Michael David Smith on December 12, 2010, 2:23 PM EST
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a concussion during the second quarter of today’s game in Detroit and has been replaced by backup Matt Flynn.
According to the FOX broadcast, Rodgers suffered the concussion when his head hit the turf when Lions linebacker Landon Johnson tackled him at the end of an 18-yard run. Rodgers didn’t slide on the run, and Johnson’s shoulder-to-shoulder tackle was clean and legal.
The Packers called timeout after that hit and Rodgers actually stayed in the game, and he got sacked on the next play. It wasn’t until the following possession that Flynn came in to replace Rodgers.
Green Bay promptly went three-and-out with Flynn at the helm, and the Lions and Packers went into halftime tied 0-0.
