They're going to lose today and the trade deadline is 4pm Tuesday.
A smart, forward thinking franchise would be calling around the league and trying to unload anyone that you are certain has no future here. Maybe nobody offers much (if anything) but every bit of extra draft capital helps a new HC and Staff build for 2025 and beyond, which is all this team should be thinking about. Who should they trade? (Note, 4 would be the absolute first person on this list if he were tradable, but he's not so I won't include him)
Offense:
1) Zack Martin: His contract voids after this season. He has not played well in either of the last two games and seems to be playing through significant back and knee problems. Still, if a contender had a big hole at RG he might be a decent add for them and it'd give him a chance to go out on top. Probably wouldnt net anything more than a mid round pick or so and it would suck to see him end his career elsewhere, but it's the right thing to do.
2) Brandin Cooks: He is not healthy and didnt look all that good before the injury, but a contender needing a veteran 3rd/4th guy might part with a late round pick. We obviously don't need him.
3) TJ Bass: Obviously if they were to trade Martin you wouldnt consider this, but he probably does have trade value and has significant upside. I'd rather keep him, but if a team offered a decent pick (middle round) you'd have to consider it.
4) Luke Schoonmaker: Looking like another wasted 2nd rd pick here. Might not have a ton of trade value, but if a team needed a TE then and he was guaranteed playing time, maybe they part with a mid round pick or something. The Chargers and former college coach Jim Harbaugh make some sense to me.
5) Either Cooper Rush or Trey Lance: Doubtful Lance has any value and Rush not much either, but even if you could get a 7th for one of them you do it. Both players are free agents after the season and we clearly don't need both any more. Rush would seem to have more value as he has proven he can win in spot duty and might have real value for a contender needing a quality backup going into the playoffs.
Defense:
1) Osa Odighizuwa: In final yr of contract and almost assuredly wont be able to re-sign him. Has talent and in the right scheme could be a solid addition somewhere. If you could get a 3rd or 4th for him, you trade him in a heart beat I think. Some contender might even flip a 2nd (would be very late 2nd) if they thought he was a perfect fit.
2) Donovon Wilson: At one time was a solid starter, but has fell off the cliff and has been terrible this year. Probably couldnt get more than a late rd pick for him, but worth it if someone would do it. He's under a manageable contract for 2025, so maybe some team sees some value in that.
3) Malik Hooker: Is even worse than Wilson but if anyone would give up a late rd pick for him, you have to do it.
4) Damone Clark: Has physical talent but has been mediocre to average at best on the field. Probably no trade value but like Wilson and Hooker, even if it as a late rd pick you take it.
5) Jourdan Lewis: Would hate to see him go, he's a really solid player and busts his ass every week. Last yr of his contract but might have real trade value to a contender that needs a good nickel CB.
6) DeMarcus Lawrence: His injury situation makes it unlikely anyone would trade for him, and similar to Martin would hate to see him go elsewhere. But if teams believe he is going to recover and can be on the field for December and January, he may have some value. This is probably his last yr here regardless.
The long shots:
1) Micah Parson: Jerry would probably rather cut off his own hand, but considering a trade for Parsons would be smart if you could break the bank with draft pick compensation. Will be extremely difficult for us to sign long term without breaking Fort Knox and while he is a tremendous player, he is not the most consistent and completely disappears in the postseason. If someone offered two 1sts for him, you have to consider it.
2) DaRon Bland: Is under a rookie deal for one more season but has yet to see the field this yr, making it likely teams would be cautious with him. But like Parsons it will take a mega contract to keep him and with them paying Diggs it makes it tougher. If someone offered a 1st or a package of day two picks you have to think about it. Guy is a legit bigtime player when healthy and a number of teams want a good cover guy now.
