He'd be a very intriguing pick for us if he's available at 19. Would give us another cornerstone piece and would almost assuredly demand a double team every snap. Would really help keeping OL off our LB's.

2018 NFL Draft order and needs for every team - NFL.com

2018 NFL Draft order and needs for every team

Note: Strength of schedule is listed in parentheses. The tie between the Redskins and Packers was broken by their win-loss-tie percentages in common games. The tie between the Cowboys and Lions was broken by their win-loss-tie percentages in conference games.

19. Dallas Cowboys
Record: 9-7 (.496)
Top needs: TE, DT, CB
The skinny: Jason Witten will turn 36 shortly after the draft and it's time to find the player who'll replace him. Adding a talented defensive tackle who can get upfield could be in play. The Cowboys lack high-end CBs and might look for a top talent at that spot.

i think we'd argue that dallas should be looking at help on dline, tight end, linebacker and wide receiver.

these are teams picking ahead of dallas who also need dline/te/lb/wr

3. Indianapolis Colts
Top needs: ILB, OL, Edge

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Top needs: DE, RB, CB

8. Chicago Bears
Top needs: WR, OL, CB

9. San Francisco 49ers
Top needs: WR, OL, CB

10. Oakland Raiders
Top needs: CB, ILB, OT

11. Miami Dolphins
Top needs: OG, ILB, RB

12. Cincinnati Bengals
Top needs: OL, QB, LB

13. Washington Redskins
Top needs: QB, LB, S

14. Green Bay Packers
Top needs: CB, OL, WR

15. Arizona Cardinals
Top needs: QB, OL, WR

16. Baltimore Ravens
Top needs: WR, TE, RB

17. Los Angeles Chargers
Top needs: OT, QB, LB

so here's an exercise at a reasonable guess of who's going to be available.

big time players at positions of need for dallas i think include:

wr
- calvin ridley, alabama
- chistian kirk, texas a&m
- dj moore, maryland
teams ahead of cowboys that need WR: bears (8th), 49ers (9th), packers (14th), cardinals (15th), ravens (16th)

tight end
- i don't know much about the te's coming out. maybe someone can elaborate
teams ahead of cowboys that need TE: ravens (16th)

lb
- roquan smith, georgia
- leighton vander esch, boise state
- tremaine edmunds, lb
- rashaan evans, alabama
teams ahead of cowboys that need LB: colts (3rd), raiders (10th), dolphins (11th), bengals (12th), redskins (13th), chargers (17th)

d-line/edge
- bradley chubb, nc state
- harold landry, boston college
- hercules mata'afa, washington state
- marcus davenport, utsa
teams ahead of cowboys that need DE/EDGE: colts (3rd), buccaneers (7th)

interior dline
- taven bryan, florida
- vita vea, washington
- maurice hurst, michigan
- da'ron payne, alabama
teams ahead of cowboys that need DT: none according to nfl.com

some comments:
- if roquan isn't gone yet, the raiders are taking him 10th overall. lots of teams looking for linebackers, maybe early.
- dallas may have a legit chance of landing a top 3 interior DL....that is "if they value the position". which they should by cutting tyrone crawford in the offseason and replacing him for a shiny new rookie. i like vita vea the most here.
- DE/EDGE will always come off the board if the talent is available. chubb is gone early but probably landry too. depends who is available at 7 for the bucs when they pick. i think dallas is going dline this year with the 1st pick and just going to replicate what they did with drafting on the oline. blow premium picks on the position unit and hope that it works.
- i don't know much about TE's this year aside from hearing about goedert (baby gronk). but the 49ers took kittle late last year, and he looks to be a great addition and actually helps the offense as a pass catching option for garropolo. maybe dak needs someone like that? jimmy graham is available in FA?
- wr is going to be a tough choice. i don't see how you get dj moore if a good defensive player is sitting there.

dallas takes derwin james with several d-lineman still on the board.

get

the

fuck

outta

here

There are a lot of scouting people that believe Derwin James is a bigtime NFL prospect, some even hinted at him being a top-10 pick. Big, rangy, huge hitter and came away last seasons with 11 passes defensed, a couple of picks and 5 1/2 tackles for loss. he had 10 tackles for loss as a freshman, and also 4 1/2 QB sacks.

if they think he's that good then sure, but i dont see how you go DB if you need DL's and LB's.

I guess you don't need a safety if you think Byron Jones and Heath are your guys

If they get a chance to get Earl Thomas here on the cheap, they should. Supposedly he and Wagner dont get along.

Yeah I wonder if Seattle might try to move him this offseason. I read previously that Chancellor and Avril may have to retire and they were probably going to try and move Sherman. They might go all in on rebuilding.

Maybe Thomas already knew this and maybe that explains why he ran down Garrett and a couple of other Cowboy players after that game a few weeks ago.

Yes!!!!! for earl thomas, thatd be ideal

But no i dont have faith in jones but i do have more faith in the young guys and they are a 2nd, 3rd and a 5th i think

Id just like to see the premium picks goto the dline, or if theres a sean lee jr out there ,,,go look for his replacement now. You think were good w jaylon?
Our d line doesnt do shit without lawrence and irving, especially together. But both have been suspended or injured for some decent stretches. Contingency plan is tapper, taco and collins?? Ehhhhh, you good w that?? It sounds more like an immigrant lawfirm than a dominant dline
