1 (14)Dallas Cowboys: Dontari Poe, NT, Memphis
The Cowboys had the option of picking J.J. Watt at No. 9 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. They went with Tyron Smith, who has been great thus far, but they're hurting at the defensive end position as a consequence. Kenyon Coleman should not be starting anymore.
Dallas could draft Dontari Poe in this spot and then move Jay Ratliff over to defensive end. The Cowboys are reportedly smitten with Poe, so he would be a likely pick if he dropped to No. 14.
*** OTHER 2012 NFL DRAFT POSSIBILITIES: ***
1. Quinton Coples or Fletcher Cox, DE/DT - Jerry Jones may not want to pass on Coples if he falls to them. Coples fits well into the 3-4 and might be the Cowboys' top available prospect.
2. Mark Barron, SS - Signing Brodney Pool has not fixed Dallas' problem at strong safety.
2 (14) Dallas Cowboys: Ronnell Lewis, DE/OLB, Oklahoma
Anthony Spencer has been franchised, but that won't keep the Cowboys from spending a Day 2 selection on a rush linebacker. Spencer has severe consistency issues.
3 (81) Dallas Cowboys: Jamell Fleming, CB, Oklahoma
The Cowboys signed Brandon Carr to bolster their secondary, but they'll still consider a cornerback in the middle rounds of the 2012 NFL Draft for depth purposes.
4a(113) Dallas Cowboys: Philip Blake, C, Baylor
Phil Costa and Kevin Kowalski aren't starting-caliber centers in the NFL. An upgrade is needed here.
4b(135) Dallas Cowboys: Janzen Jackson, S, McNeese State
I refuse to believe that the Cowboys are serious with Brodney Pool. He's just a 1-year "fix" at best, so Dallas needs to bring in competition.
5(152) Dallas Cowboys: Lucas Nix, G, Pittsburgh
The Cowboys had major issues on the interior of their offensive line last year. They signed two guards this offseason, Nate Livings and Mackenzy Bernadeau, but the latter is just a backup.

1(14) Dallas Stephon Gilmore South Carolina CB
Reach/Value:-2 Height: 6'0" Weight:190
Alternate Pick #1 Luke Kuechly Alternate Pick #2 Courtney Upshaw
When all things are equal, go BIG! Normally, a smart idea in drafting both football & basketball players; however, in this case, not all things are equal. There is probably a 25% chance the Cowboys trade up, 10% chance they stay at 14, and 65% chance they trade down . . . nevertheless, at #14 the 2nd best CB in this year's draft class is good value, especially when CB Jenkins starts the "mo money" chant in the last year of his rookie contract! 2
(45) Dallas James Brown Troy OG
Reach/Value:+1 Height: 6'4" Weight:306
Alternate Pick #1 Jared Crick Alternate Pick #2 Josh Robinson
Ah, one of Long Ball's "pet cats" . . . Brown combines the footwork of a left offensive tackle with the "old school" blocking technique of initial punch, recoil and reset with the legs constantly pumping that reminds me of Jason Pinkston from last year. Yes, Dallas signed Bernadeau & Livings as F/A, but the OL reconstruction must continue. New OL Coach Bill Callahan is going to love this kid's attitude and will mold him into a Pro Bowl performer!
