“Fire Andy” chants break out in Philadelphia
Posted by Michael David Smith on November 27, 2011, 6:47 PM EST

The Eagles were hyped as a Super Bowl team before the season. Instead, they’re losers. And Philadelphia fans are taking out their frustration on head coach Andy Reid.

As the Patriots throttle the Eagles today in Philadelphia, chants of “Fire Andy” have been heard at Lincoln Financial Field.

There was a time when firing Reid would have been unthinkable: Reid has the most regular-season wins of any coach in franchise history, the most playoff wins in franchise history and the highest winning percentage in franchise history. The Eagles have been one of the better teams in the league over the last dozen years, and Reid deserves the lion’s share of the credit for that.

But the Eagles aren’t even close to one of the better teams in the league this year, the popular idea before the season that they’d be Super Bowl contenders seems foolish, and the infamous “Dream Team” nickname now looks like a bad joke. This team is a mess, and it’s largely a mess that Reid created. He’s not the only one who deserves blame, but the buck stops with him.

When this game ends the Eagles will be 4-7 and out of the playoff conversation. And it will be time to start a different conversation, one about the future of the franchise, and whether Reid will be part of that future.

People need to finally learn that the NFL is not Madden. It is time for Reid to go. He'll sit out a year and then get picked up by someone.

I hope they fire him... He's been the most successful coach they've ever seen. It's time for them to go back into the shitter. That will set the dream team back another couple of years.

I agree.

They might not win the Super Bowl with him, (although they very well could), but he almost always has them in contention, and he always has them giving us fits.

Yeah, sure we all want them to fire him, but it wouldn't be a wise decision though.

Lurie really needs to think this through before he makes that decision.

I can't believe those trailer park fans though he deserved that after all the great years he gave them.

Wait, yeah I can...

I do think that at certain points coaches need to move on. Reid could bring this team back, but that organization and city seem to need a clean break. I think Philly would embrace a defensive minded coach.

Reid is a really good football coach. There's a reason most of us would love to see him fired.

Same thing goes DeSean Jackson. I'd think most of us are watching that situation to some degree, hoping for a TO-like ending to that situation.

I dont want him fired at all. He's been running the thing for years, getting everything he wants. And they still never win big. I want him there as long as possible.

Same thing goes for that piece of crap Jackson. He's just the type of me-first team cancer, inconsistent hands WR I want to see them invest huge $$$ in.

That won't happen. They know exactly what they have in him. Some loser team will sign him to a big deal, but it will be for a few million less after last night.

Why wouldn't it be a wise decision? Right now, they are just treading water with Reid with no end in sight. The Titans had to eventually cut Fisher loose.
