ESPN: Zeke Elliott challenging Eric Dickerson's rookie rushing record

Which by the way is what Garrett did two yrs ago vs Washington.

ESPN: Zeke Elliott challenging Eric Dickerson's rookie rushing record

Troy didn't play in the 1991 game, Steve Buerlien did, and the starters did play the entire game. And in 1992, yeah it pretty much was his logic to let Emmitt get his record and get him out. They got a good lead and the backups began coming in against the Bears.

ESPN: Zeke Elliott challenging Eric Dickerson's rookie rushing record

He actually did it twice though. I didn't agree with what he did, and wont be happy if Garrett and this staff do it with Zeke now. That said, Jimmy is a lot better coach and smarter about the NFL than Garrett, and if his logic was to do what he did, then it probably isn't 100% fair to bash...

ESPN: Zeke Elliott challenging Eric Dickerson's rookie rushing record

So you don't understand the point then. Jimmy did exactly this, he let Emmitt run up the carries in back to back years to win a rushing title. I'm not saying I agree with it, but many teams (not just the Jimmy Cowboys) play starters in meaningless games. Personally I think its a conundrum of...

Day After Thoughts: Bounceback win to 12-2

It doesn't matter. They'll probably be in "lets get out of town" mode at kickoff time. I think the only way we lose at Philly is if Kellen Moore somehow ends up suiting up at QB.

ESPN: How Dallas built the NFL's 1,586 lb MVP

CMD probably knows all the details since he is a USC guy, but I'm pretty sure Tyron Smith was the first guy Garrett ever went to personally scout. That may have happened one other time since he's been here, but I do recall something about Garrett going with Houck to look at him.

ESPN: How Dallas built the NFL's 1,586 lb MVP

Except with Manziel, he proved on the field he couldn't play, and it wasn't because he suffered a really bad injury his 1st game.

ESPN: How Dallas built the NFL's 1,586 lb MVP

Eh. So your saying the "plan" was really to get by with the Bill Nagy's and Phil Costa's of the world form then to eternity. The problem I have with this "this wasn't the plan" bullshit is that they did draft the guys we have. They weren't "assigned" these guys. They still fucking scouted them...

ESPN: Zeke Elliott challenging Eric Dickerson's rookie rushing record

Would you have fired Jimmy if that had happened to Emmitt in 91 or 92? What about Aikman in 1992? Irvin either year?

Day After Thoughts: Bounceback win to 12-2

He's 4th in the league in yards per attempt, so it isn't like all he does is step back and throw 5 yd outlets all the time.

Day After Thoughts: Bounceback win to 12-2

Sure, but how do you know he wouldn't have just completed another throw or two anyway? Wasn't like he had been struggling the whole game or something there. And I gave you the other examples too. I don't think its a good idea to think we can put a rookie 4th rd pick in a position where he HAS...

ESPN: How Dallas built the NFL's 1,586 lb MVP

Unless you have the first pick of the draft, that's the way all the picks pretty much work there genius. What you get to pick from after #1 overall is totally dependent on what other teams do.

ESPN: Zeke Elliott challenging Eric Dickerson's rookie rushing record

We let Emmitt get his carries in 1991 and 1992 in meaningless season finale games to get the league rushing championship. And 2yrs ago Demarco Murray played with a broken hand vs Washington. Just fyi.
