The Phillies became the first team in Major League Baseball history to strike out 19 times & still win an Opening Day game, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic. They are now, 1-6 with 19 or more strike out. Lovely!

They squandered opportunity after opportunity in the playoffs last season because of their inability to be disciplined at the plate, chasing pitches & going for the hero play instead of just getting on base by any means necessary.

And after an offseason where the team & players talked about changing their approach at the plate, it was hard to tell if this game was a replay from ones that took place late in 2024 or if it was a new campaign altogether. If they don't fix this issue, winning the division is as far as they'll go yet once again!

hitting is fucking atrocious in baseball now.....analytics and new stupid fucking rules completely ruined the game

its very early obviously but red sox baseball is entertaining again, and it hasnt been in a long time
