I was a huge fan of the original... This new iteration has been a hard sell for me mainly because it's way too slick and antiseptic, and they concentrate more on their lab drama than they do on the actual story of the leaps, and they're producing it exactly like they do NCIS and CSI. But they're getting better slowly.

Really don't like the holographic observer Addison and not really high on Ben, the leaper. There's a subplot, a war going on between the project and Al's daughter that's getting interesting.

Anyhow, I'm still watching. Glad they brought the show back. What say you buncha goobs?

Not sure what I call woke? Just look at the cast. Now I wouldn't give a hoot if it was a new series (not that I give a hoot anyway since I don't watch it). But it's a spin off an old series. Kind of like what Star Wars did with the new movies. If I wanted to watch that many woman in an action series, I'd have BB send me some porn DVD's from the 80's and 90's. Those folks could act back then.....

They did the same thing with the new Magnum PI series. At least they kept Magnum and TC true to the original series, both in terms of gender and color. But then you make Higgins a female?

It's not a remake it's an actual continuation of the original story. In charge of the project is Admiral Herbert "Magic" Williams, who Sam Beckett leaped into during his service in Vietnam. The mission of the new project - solve the mystery of what happened to Dr. Beckett, who is presumed dead. Find out what went wrong with the technology.

Problem arose when, for reasons still unknown, Dr. Ben Song - the project's lead physicist - uploaded a new program code into the project's computer, overriding safety features and allowing him to use the accelerator to leap in time.

He was never intended to be the leaper, that assignment belonged to his fiance Addison. Who now has become Ben's holographic observer. They find that in order to leap back home, Ben must "put right what once went wrong" in the life of the person he leaped into, or of someone else in the person's life.

They're dismayed when the first such leap doesn't get him back, instead it's turned into a series of such leaps.

Meanwhile, Al's daughter Janis has hacked into the QL project computer for unknown reasons and also possesses the old QL technology from the original project. Enabling her to at times, to find Ben and talk to him as a hologram herself. What are her motives and what is she trying to do? It's discovered that secretly in the background, she has been working with Ben and it was her code he uploaded to Ziggy.

The QL team continues to work to thwart Janis, and to try to get Ben home.

What are you talking about? Original series Magnum was an anglo. New Magnum is Hispanic.

I didn't like the new one because it was a remake that pretends the original never existed.

I never watched the new series. Just mentioned it for the comparisons sake and it just goes to show it proves my point even more.

Nope. If it's a new series, have at it and develop the characters whether they be male, female, straight, gay, etc. If the fans enjoy it, so be it.

But when you take existing cannon and change it for nothing more than woke ideology, I won't watch. My exception was Star Wars because I believed you couldn't fuck that up but I was wrong.

There were rumblings that the new James Bond would be a black female. I won't watch it if that's the case. Not because the actor is black, but because the change was made to appease a woke ideology.

I'm a big Star Trek fan (I'm a geek...I know). Although the new series had the same premise as the original, the characters were new and the actors did a good job with their characters. Black captain in DS9 (Sisco) and female captain in Voyager (Janeway); black Vulcan (Tupoc), etc. DS9 lost me but had some good seasons.

Now, if they made another reboot of the original and made Lt. Uhura (who is a black female) Asian, or Spanish, or European, it would piss me off and I wouldn't watch. Of course, Hollywood wouldn't do that. But they would make Captain Kirk gay, transgender, black, female, etc. That's just the way Hollywood rolls these days and I'm out. I don't really confuse that with politics.

That wasn't really clear in the original trilogy. It wasn't until the prequels that we learned Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader was the product of an "otherly" conception and then the story line took off.

I liked Star Wars and while the prequels had some issues, they stayed true to the story arc, more or less. The follow-up movies after Disney bought the rights to the franchise absolutely sucked. Just horrible and they completely fucked with canon and just doubled down with the series Obi Wan. I watched it hoping for the best but all Disney did was ruin canon and demasculate a legendary character, just as they did with Luke Skywalker. My issues are less political than they are an opposition that type of ideology.
