The mantra all off-season will be bring 'em all back and hope for two good defensive players in the draft.

In some ways, there are some similarities to this team and the 91 Cowboys...the OL is starting to gel, the offense in general is good, they can run the ball almost at will...the defense tries hard and is decent enough at time vs the run...but the pass defense is just awful

The 1991 Cowboy team had no pass rush to speak of (I think we had 25 sacks for the season that yr) and then got blistered by one of the most mediocre QB's of all time in the playoff loss to Detroit. The next offseason Jimmy added Kevin Smith, Robert Jones, Thomas Everett, Charles Haley and Darren Woodson. Haley, Everett and K Smith were all huge adds to the defense.

They'll need a similar type offseason next yr to fix this defense. The one big difference though is Troy Aikman was a young stud entering his prime, whereas Romo is an older guy with a really bad back.

Hard to compare today's QBs and receivers against older ones beause of all the rule changes.

Very easy to break passing records nowadays

Nevermind the fact that Romo, for all his warts, is the best passer this team has had.
And that is more a product of his era than anything else. Can't touch or even sneeze on the receivers, can't even give the QB a dirty look.

Really? Romo - Murray - Dez is pretty formidable. Not taking away from the greatness that was Troy, Emmitt, and Mike, but these cuurent 3 never had a real NFL coach. Romo had Parcells for a second.

Yeah, really.

Aikman was a far better QB than Romo. If Aikman and Irvin played today with these rules, they'd score almost every time they had the ball.

Then there was Emmitt, that OL, those supporting skill guys in Harper, Novacek, Kelvin Martin. That defense which was EONS better than this scrub team puts out there. Those special teams were the best in the league to, the only thing good about this current special teams is Dan Bailey.

Yup.

But, imagine Troy in this offense, with these weapons - and these rules.

He doesn't think Romo is anywhere near Aikman's level.

He's not.

Romo is a good player and we have been lucky to have him. But the pussification of the league and all the bullshit rule changes making it so easy to pass have changed the way the game is played and the way stats should be looked at.

motherfucker was bitching about not getting the ball even though we were up big. at least when Scandy exploded it was because the D was playing like shit.

Dez wasn't bitching about not getting the ball, I think he was mad at Murray for taking a ridiculous 14 yd loss on 1st and goal.

Murray has been amazing all yr and had a great game tonight, but that run was really stupid.

I love me some Romo, and think he'd have a ring if he played for a competent franchise and a good coach.

But Aikman was incredible. His accuracy and deep balls were amazing.

Looks like we made it through another game injury free. We've been very fortunate in that regard

Should travel to Philly with a healthy and well rested team.

dude was 1st one celebrating all those other TDs for those other guys...

I think he's sick of the way this team cant finish off other teams, I don't blame him.

Yep on all this too. Troy's passes are typically on a lazer line. You could actually hear them coming, the hiss noise.

dbair's making my point for me. THE Triplets had way more help...better coaching, better defense, better supporting players except that Witten is better than Novacek but that's close as well.

Separate issue, Dez was selfish tonight, hurts the team, hurts his standing with teammates.

10 days to prepare for the Eagles who hopefully lose to Seattle. Season is on the line, Week 17 comes early.

They had a hell of a lot tougher row to hoe though, than this group has. Just imagine that 1992 Dallas offense playing with these rules.

Sure they had more help, but they were also all three better than this current trio. Those 3 guys are in the HOF for a reason, I seriously doubt any of this current "triplets" makes the HOF. Everyone is always quick to point to this other "help" those guys had, but those 3 guys made everyone else better. Not just on game days, but every day during offseason workouts, training camp and during the season practices. Those 3 guys were real leaders and real winners.

You'd have to have a clue what he was talking about or "complaining" about (if he was even complaining), and you don't unless you had him MIC'd up to your computer or something. I still think he was pissed about the slack ass way the team played in the 4th qtr, making a game which should have been a massive blowout a nail biter.

We're better on the road than at home, but this defense gives me absolutely ZERO hope we can win either of the next two games.
