It may give him some motivation when we play the Redskins. Unfortunately, 1 good game a year is about all you can expect from him now w/ or w/o that extra incentive.
It's hard to motivate a fat and lazy malcontent. He has always been somewhat of a headcase dating back to his days in college but his attention span to football completely disappeared as soon as his pockets were filled with that big contract.
I wouldn't be shocked for Ocho Johnson Stinko to join him in the unemployment line soon. It's surprising to see how little an impact he is having with the Pats. When he does see the field it's like he and Brady are in a different time zones. No cohesion whatsoever. It's almost like they signed him just to stash away on the bench to keep a division rival from getting him before the season.
Little Bill - and I think he ought to be called Big Bill because he's clearly the more successful of the two - isn't a motivator. You don't listen to that guy talk and want to run through walls.
The thing with the Patriots is, you hope that malcontents who don't have a ring, and who know this might be their last chance, will go there and buy into the system.
Rob Ryan, his swagger, his fuck you attitude, might be the guy to light a fire under Haynesworth.
Sign him to a heavy incentive laden contract - vet min, 50k for every stuff, 100k for every sack/forced fumble, etc.
He's little bill because he isn't as fat as that other slob.
And I wouldn't discount his motivational skills because he's not as blustery as Parcells or Ryan or whoever. He's gotten a lot of mileage out of perceived malcontents over the years. Randy Moss, Cory Dillon, Brian Cox, etc...
It's just my opinion, but I think Haynesworth is a lost cause. The minute he got paid, he shut it down. He has the talent to be a HOFer. But he just doesn't care. He went from being a dominant force to a nobody over night. He doesn't even show flashes of his former self. That tells me he's only hanging on as long as he can for the paycheck. As soon as nobody will give him that, he'll grab a box of krispy kreme and a 40 and waddle off to his couch.
He clears waivers and you could sign him for the vet min for the rest of the year. I'm not looking at him to be a savior, but we got some run out of Tank Johnson, maybe we could do the same with him. It's a low risk chance to me.

I wouldn't. Even for the vet min, it's still too big of a risk. And it is questionable that he'll ever have enough motivation to even be servicable any more.
He's a lazy cancer. We're trying to get rid of those types. And to me, that outweighs the gain of him possibly being even a Tank Johnson type.
